Fold & slide hardware systems

Barrier free spaces

A long time favourite with hotels, restaurants and conservatories for their wide and barrier-free openings, Fold & Slide systems are also being increasingly used in residential buildings. All elements of the door can be folded in order to save space and can be pushed aside over a total frame width of up to 6 m.

Bi folding doors are also frequently used indoor, as room dividers for conference rooms, office space, hospitals or guest rooms.

Indoor / outdoor

Blending the indoor / outdoor space

One of the biggest benefits of exterior bifold doors is that they help to remove the barrier between your garden and your indoor space. When closed, the huge expanse of glass provides you with a wonderful view of the outdoors, and when open, a huge aperture is created to perfectly blend outside and in.

Garden parties, outdoor dining, barbecues, and any other spring and summer activity is enhanced when the barrier between your home and garden is removed.

7 panes

A bi folding door can be configured with up to 7 opening panes, all elements being folded and pushed aside in order to save space for optimum room use.

100 kg

Performant support-brackets with optimised screw fixing and pin axes enable sashes with weights of up to 100 kg to be used safely.

6 m

Thanks to the generous dimensions of the sashes, wide openings can be implemented, by combining fixed and movable window elements.

1200 mm

Sash rebate width of 450 mm to 1200 mm for the access sash.

900 mm

Sash rebate width of 450 mm to 900 mm for each folding-sash.

2800 mm

Sash rebate height of 600 mm to 2800 mm

Space efficiency

More space in the door area

When considering bifold doors versus standard Tilt&Turn doors, an important factor to consider is the space required around the door.

Standard Tilt&Turn doors require a large amount of room around them in order for them to be fully opened.

Meanwhile, bifold doors fold back in a concertina effect in order that they only take up a very small amount of space when opened. For compact living areas or small gardens, this is a huge benefit.

Space efficiency

Outward or Inward Opening

Bifolds can enhance homes of every size including completely bespoke designs to suit unconventional layouts. When the doors are folded back they can either do so inwardly or outwardly, so you can choose which set-up suits your home best.

Best of both worlds

Traffic door with Tilt & Turn functionality

A ‘traffic door’ can be included in the structure of a bifolding door, which means you can still make quick entrances and exits without opening and closing several panels. The integrated Tilt&Turn sash works independently of the folding elements and can be tilted for ventilation or opened to act as a door onto a balcony or terrace.

Comfortable, quiet, durable

Comfortable and
easy to operate

Barrier-free threshold in accordance with DIN 18040

The flush-fit enhanced threshold available on the Fold&Slide system allows a barrier-free access to the conservatory or to the cafe terrace without tripping or stumbling. The threshold design meets the DIN 18040 european standard for barrier free buildings acces, being a prerequisite for modern architecture and living.

Smooth running bogies: comfortable, quiet and durable

The enhanced threshold is characterised by its energy-efficiency, particularly smooth-running bogies ensuring a high level of user friendliness.

The precise guidance of the bogies is ensured by lateral rollers that are mounted on ball bearings and made from durable PVC. This ensures simple, quiet and convenient operation of both tall and heavy Fold&Slide elements over the course of many years.

Flexible configurations

Flexible configurations

The traffic Tilt&Turn door can have a rebate width of 450 mm to 1200 mm. Each folding elements can have a rebate of 450 mm to 900 mm and up to 100 kg per sash. The maximum height of the sashes is 2800 mm.

thermal insulation

Energy-efficient enhanced thresholds

The combination of materials and advanced Roto technology ensures that the new enhanced threshold provides a high level of energy efficiency. Based on a thermal break, the insulating characteristics are increased significantly. An optimised isothermal efficiency prevents condensation and mould formation in the 20 °C / -10 °C range.

tall&heavy sashes

Strong support brackets

The high performance support-brackets with optimised screw fixing and pin axes enable sashes with weights of up to 100 kg to be used safely. Fold&Slide elements with a potential height of 2.80 m enable bigger and better views outside, whether the elements are closed or open.

security

RC2. Safety without compromises

At first glance, large sliding glass doors can seem quite fragile in terms of safety. However, depending on the equipment variants, sliding doors can achieve an anti-burglary rating up to class RC2. It is recommended to equip sliding doors with anti-burglary safety glass for a high level of security. The level of security can be further improved with glass breakage detector for monitoring glazed surfaces.

Multiple points

Bifolds include multiple locking points across the structure making them some of the most secure patio doors available, especially when made from aluminium. Bifold doors should be fitted on completely enclosed tracks so intruders can’t gain access by lifting them out of their track.

The multiple locking points available on Fold&Slide doors also provides a strong and durable weather barrier, for all areas that are subject to harsher wind, rain and storm conditions.

  • Locking mushroom cams and matching security strikers.
  • Smooth running bogies and strong support bracket.

security

Magnetic locking and opening monitoring system

Hinges with concealed screw fixing

Where security demands are more stringent, electronic components can be integrated for monitoring opening and locking, and for hazard detection and burglar alarms.

The system monitors the opening status of the window. As soon as a magnetic field is disturbed, for example during the violent opening of the window, the concealed detector sends a signal to the alarm control panel. The alarm system is triggered and the burglar will quickly be scared off.

Besides helping to prevent break-ins, the concealed screw fixing of the frame hinges on the Fold&Slide doors also enhances the overall elegant appearance.

Variable fixing locations for the frame hinges permit optimum adaptation to the profile system. The hinges can be steplessly adjusted by +/- 3 mm with an Allen key.
